In middle school I wrote a poem about the Liberty bell. It won a prize, but even so, it was marked by historical inaccuracies, anachronisms, and an irregular meter. Well, I was just in eighth grade, and, poetic license — amiright? Anyway, with the nation’s 250th birthday coming on, I decided to rework the poem into an actual song and fix all the problems. Any awkwardness can be chalked up to the fact that I tried to keep the flow and character of the original as much as possible.
